Latvia, Jelgava then to Riga

Jelgava  is a city in central Latvia about 41 kilometres (25 miles) southwest of Riga.
                      We arrived here late in the evening















Riga
Riga Old Town is incredibly picturesque. Its narrow cobblestone streets lined with restaurants,cafes, souvenir shops,  museums, galleries and medieval churches, and squares , is a UNESCO Heritage listed site. The old Town overlooks the Daugava River

Big Christopher n the third century, a kind-hearted giant originally named Offero resided in a cave on the banks of the Daugara River and would carry travelers across its raging waters.

Riga Cathderal, the church is commonly called the Dome Cathedral,Riga"s most recognisab;e landmark. It is also caled The cathedral of St. Mary








Riga Castle is also the official residence of the President of Latvia. There are a few museums in the Castle. The castle has six towers: the Holy Ghost Tower, the Lead Tower, the Piper Tower and the Northern Tower in the corners, as well as the Ecker Tower and the Tower of the Three Stars.




Church of Our Lady Of Sorrows is a Roman Catholic church in Riga It was built in 1785.
