Khyagt (Russia) / Altanbulag (Mongolia) border crossing

After a quick stop to get some groceries and tit bits at the supermarket in Khyagt on the Russian side of the border, we headed for the border.

At 9.30am we arrived at the Russian Customs office located on the first floor. There were already a few people waiting for their turn. There is no queue ticketing system, so we placed our temporary import papers (we were provided this paper on entry into Russia) with the row of papers already building up on the counter top and waited for our turn.

Meantime, downstairs, the Russian customs personnel have already started to check through our vehicle and belongings.
They were pretty thorough and questioned all the medicines that we brought along. We were subsequently cleared and by 11am our passport have been stamped and we made our way to the Mongolian side.

On the Mongolian side, we paid 60 Rubbles (~US$1) at the entry gate.

On the Mongolian side, we spent a few hours chasing down officers for the be 3 stamps below to sign off our CPD Carnet. We also changed some Tugrik at the bank on the first floor. On exit, we paid 10,000 Tugrik (~US$4).

Leaving Mongolia border checkpoint at Altanbulag.. It's 2.20pm..
