Kids happily helping out their mum to sell jungle ferns (locally called pirin/midin) for RM3 per bundle. Taken at Matang Jaya on Day 1 of Chinese New Year.
This foraged wild jungle fern are usually stir fried in garlic. At chinese restaurant, these ferns are stir fried in red wine too.. We ordered them as often as we can but as this dish is so popular, the restaurant runs out of it really fast, especially in the city.
Outskirts, you can find them in the local markets pretty easily.
