Mongolia - Gazelles and sandstorms on our drive from Bayandalai to Sevrei

The road just outside of Bayandalai was sandy but it got better after 15 minutes of driving.
For a short while, we also drove on some dried up river bed.

A stupa in the middle of the Gobi desert

Spotted a black-tailed gazelle.

A few more running away..

Black-tailed gazelles also called goitered gazelle.

A larger group of them keeping a wide distance from us. Quite easy to spot them... just look for the plumes of dust they kick up in the air when they run. They will also spring in the air.

Another normal occurrence in this part of the route.
The winds are strong here and with a flat landscape that goes on for miles, sandstorms happens frequently.

Watch the video below for what it's like driving this stretch from Bayandalai to Sevrei:

Came across some camels too.

The terrain can change drastically from  one part to another.
It is a good thing that the soft sandy patch does not last for very long.
We have now learnt to associate the green mounds (some as tall as a man standing) as signs of soft sandy patches.

At 7.30pm we are about 26km away from Sevrei and decided to camp here for tonight.
Mum cooked some tagliatelle with ham, onion and cheese for dinner tonight.

We travelled 113km today and only came across two Lada vans the whole day.
